The Bachelor of Science in Behavioral Neuroscience is geared toward educating students on the complexities of the human brain and how it enables behavior and cognition. The program reflects current trends in the field of Behavioral Neuroscience through its emphasis on the scientific study of psychological processes and through the inclusion of recent trends and practice. Students have a variety of opportunities to become directly involved in ongoing research and participate in our active student organizations. Many students pursue the B.S. in Behavioral Neuroscience in preparation for graduate or professional training in psychology, medicine, or research. The program consists of 120 credit hours, including completion of the university core curriculum, well-rounded foundational core in behavioral neuroscience, courses in key sub-disciplines within neuroscience (cellular & molecular, behavioral & systems), research methods/lab courses, and electives.

Our Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry program prepares the student for graduate study or a professional career as a biochemist in industry, in government service or in secondary school teaching.

This degree-specific program combines the rigorous requirements of the Biology B.S. program with content-specific pedagogy to prepare students interested in teaching biology at the secondary level. The Biology Education major offers a degree in the discipline with multiple field experiences in diverse classroom settings and culminates in a full-time teaching internship. Upon graduation from the program, students are endorsed for Full Teacher Certification by the State of Florida’s Department of Education.

The Biomedical Engineering (BME) program is leading the State in Biomedical Engineering education. It is the only department in the nation offering an accredited undergraduate degree in BME at a Minority and Hispanic serving institution. Biomedical Engineering weaves a strong life science foundation with multidisciplinary engineering fundamentals for investigating and understanding living system using quantitative assessment tools, engineering living systems, and developing novel biomedical sensors and devices. The objective of the undergraduate program is to produce graduates that continue in advanced study in engineering, medicine or the sciences and/or professional practice as a biomedical engineer in industry. Biomedical Engineering students are trained to demonstrate proficiency in one or more of the following areas: clinical application of biomedical engineering tools, product development, manufacturing, and commercialization in the biomedical industry; participation in diverse teams; and biomedical research. Our graduates are also prepared to meet their professional responsibilities by providing service to the community through leadership skills, ethical decision making and effective communication.

Undergraduate business students opting to pursue a BBA in Business Analytics (BA) will gain a solid foundation in the application of statistical methods, techniques, and tools to large data sets. The Business Analytics program provides students with the background needed to applying statistical methods and techniques through use of decision support systems (DSS), expert systems (ES), business intelligence (BI) reporting tools, and business analytics (BA) data mining tools. Graduates will be prepared for entry-level business analytics and reporting positions.

The Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree is certified by the American Chemical Society and provides the necessary background for those who wish to pursue graduate study in chemistry and ultimately careers in chemistry. Students may work with the Department's faculty members, many of whom are interdisciplinary in their training and interests and teach in several fields, in their research labs. Some present the result of their research at national conferences and publish them in chemistry journals.

The Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree is designed for students preparing for careers such as medicine, dentistry, environmental studies, veterinary medicine, patent law, secondary science education or forensic chemistry. The Chemical Education Major allows students to meet all the requirements for full certification to teach 6-12 in the State of Florida. Students may work with the Department's faculty members, many of whom are interdisciplinary in their training and interests and teach in several fields, in their research labs. Some present the result of their research at national conferences and publish them in chemistry journals.
